What to say to patients
“Step-up step-down exercises use both your quadriceps muscles as well as your hip muscles, both of which have been associated with positive outcomes for patellofemoral pain. The step-down phase is just as important as the step-up phase. It is important you contact us tomorrow if you experience significant stiffness or soreness as we may need to delay the second bout of step-up step-down training in order for your body to recover. This should not delay your progress and your body will adapt quickly as long as we prescribe the exercises correctly.”
