How to prescribe them
These exercises can be prescribed in stages:
- Initial consultation: Ten minutes (knee floats, arm movements with legs in chair position); Patient to practise at home for one to three weeks
- Second consultation: Ten minutes (abdominal contraction with legs in chair position, leg movement)
- Third consultation: Five minutes (toe dips); Only prescribe this when the patient has mastered the technique of previous exercises
The exercises can also be incorporated into a group session. Follow-up consultations are recommended to assess technique and outcomes. For optimal results they should be performed once per day.
