What the patient can expect

This series of exercises progresses from intermediate exercises for the gluteals and involves more challenging movements. Patients should notice improvements in strength and coordination. If performed prior to training/competition athletes could notice improvements in:

  • Explosive jump performance13
  • Explosive power output14
  • Sprinting*15
  • Squatting*15
  • Climbing steep hills*15
  • Plant and cut manoeuvres to the opposite side16

*As gluteus maximus is used to “accelerate the body upwards and forward from a position of hip flexion ranging from 45° to 60°.”15
