Key teaching phrases

  • “Keep your elbows straight, but not locked.”
  • “Maintain the natural curve in your lower back.”

Contraindications

  • Shoulder pain during or after the exercise
  • Early recovery phase of post rotator cuff surgery45
  • Recent shoulder dislocation/subluxation
  • Acute subacromial impingement
  • Bench-presser’s shoulder
  • Patients with wrist or knee pain in this position. For wrist pain, you can try placing the hands on some weights to reduce the angle of extension. You can place a pillow under the knees.
