Exercise physiologists, fitness and personal trainers:

This course is approved by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (Provider # 5,053) and the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (Provider # 11,894) and has been allocated 1.0 NASM CEUs and 10.0 AFAA CEUs.

It includes all notes required to complete the case studies and questionnaires to obtain your continuing education units.

  • Beginner Pilates for the upper back
  • Intermediate Pilates for upper back extension (equipment)
  • Beginner exercises for the lower back
  • Intermediate exercises for the lower back
  • Beginner yoga for the lower back
  • Intermediate Pilates for the abdominals
  • Intermediate Pilates for the abdominals (bolster)
  • Beginner exercises for the hip
  • Intermediate exercises for gluteals (low tensor fascia latae)
  • Intermediate exercises for the gluteals (step-up box)
  • Intermediate high activation exercises for the gluteals (non-weight-bearing)
  • Intermediate high activation exercises for the gluteals (weight-bearing)
  • Beginner closed chain quadriceps exercises for patellofemoral pain
  • Beginner open chain quadriceps exercises for patellofemoral pain

Exercise prescriptions and Practitioner notes are provided for CEU use only. For a licence to distribute, please register to become an Evidence for Exercise® Registered Provider.

Instructions:

Once you have downloaded and studied your exercise prescriptions and practitioner notes please ensure you are logged in before accessing your questionnaires.

You must complete the questionnaires in the following order to obtain your CEUs:

  • Beginner and intermediate Pilates for the upper back
  • Beginner and intermediate exercises for the lower back
  • Beginner yoga for the lower back
  • Intermediate Pilates for the abdominals
  • Beginner and intermediate exercises for the hip and gluteals
  • Beginner quadriceps exercises for patellofemoral pain

When you have completed the first questionnaire you will receive immediate confirmation. You can then move to the next questionnaire. When you have completed them all you will receive a certificate of completion.

Learning objectives

At the completion of this course participants should:

•Have the knowledge to effectively prescribe exercises for a variety of conditions
•Recognise patient conditions and characteristics that respond to these exercises
•Have the knowledge to observe and correct any technique errors
•Understand the evidence regarding these exercises
•Develop communication skills to convey appropriate information to the patient

CEU requirements

As an NASM-CPT, you are required to earn 2.0 CEUs (20 hours) of approved continuing education every two years.

AFAA: In order to recertify, you must earn at least 15 approved hours of continuing education every two years (at least 2 of these CEUs must be from AFAA courses.)
